The Compressor Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of natural gas compression equipment and associated station systems. This position monitors equipment performance, troubleshoots operational issues, performs minor maintenance, and makes necessary operating adjustments to maintain optimal pressure, flow, efficiency, and equipment uptime.
Operate and monitor natural gas compressors, dehydration units, and associated equipment.
Adjust operating parameters to maintain optimal pressure, flow, efficiency, and reliability.
Conduct routine equipment inspections and record operating readings to identify irregularities.
Perform minor maintenance and assist with repairs on compressors, engines, and auxiliary systems.
Identify mechanical and process-related issues and coordinate with maintenance personnel when additional repairs are required.
Assist with troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems.
Monitor rotating equipment, instrumentation, and process control systems.
Follow all established company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate daily logs of operating data, maintenance activities, and safety inspections.
Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and operational deviations.
Utilize digital systems and tools for operational reporting and data entry.
Work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
MUST HAVE: Minimum 10 years of hands-on natural gas compressor experience.
Previous experience operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining natural gas compression equipment.
Instrument air compressor experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, instrumentation, and process controls.
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
Knowledge of HMI systems and control room operations preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
OSHA 10/30, H2S Awareness, First Aid/CPR, and/or DOT Operator Qualification (OQ) certifications are a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently in remote locations and varying weather conditions.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and regularly climb, bend, stand, and perform other physical job duties.
Ability to wear required PPE and comply with all safety requirements.
