Overview

Lease Operator is responsible for supporting daily oil and gas production operations by monitoring well and equipment performance, operating production systems, and assisting with routine maintenance. This role works closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, and other support teams to ensure safe and efficient production. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of relevant experience, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to troubleshoot issues and make basic operational decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor oil and gas production equipment, including gas lift wells, ESPs, three-phase separators, gas compressors, control boards, and pipeline systems.
  • Monitor well and equipment performance and take appropriate action to optimize and maximize production.
  • Perform routine field rounds, collect equipment readings, and document operating conditions.
  • Assist with minor maintenance and troubleshooting of valves, pumps, rotating equipment, and other production systems.
  • Prepare equipment and facilities for scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Issue work permits and follow established operating and safety procedures.
  • Initiate work requests and assist with writing or updating operational procedures.
  • Coordinate with operators, maintenance personnel, engineering teams, and other support groups.
  • Use production data to help optimize chemical pump and injection rates for corrosion, paraffin, soap injection, and other production needs.
  • Gather and provide operational data requested by engineering.
  • Track and maintain compression testing data.
  • Conduct fluid-level testing using an echo meter.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and documentation.
  • Identify routine operational issues, troubleshoot problems, and make basic decisions to support safe and efficient operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Typically 3–5 years of relevant oil and gas production or field operations experience.
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas production systems, terminology, equipment, and operating procedures.
  • Experience with gas lift wells, ESPs, three-phase separation, gas compression, pipelines, or control board operations preferred.
  • Experience monitoring well performance and production equipment.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of valves, pumps, compressors, and rotating equipment.
  • Ability to perform routine equipment inspections, field rounds, and operational readings.
  • Experience issuing work permits and following established safety and operating procedures.
  • Ability to identify operational issues, troubleshoot routine problems, and make basic decisions.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams.
  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, agility and fit for duty.
  • Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending stopping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
