Overview

The Lease Operator is responsible for supporting daily oil and gas production operations by monitoring well performance, operating production equipment, and assisting with routine maintenance activities. This role works closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to ensure production facilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor oil and gas production equipment, including gas lift systems, ESPs, three-phase separators, gas compression equipment, pipelines, and control boards.
  • Perform routine field inspections, equipment rounds, and operational checks.
  • Monitor well and equipment performance and take appropriate action to maximize production.
  • Assist with routine maintenance on valves, pumps, rotating equipment, and other production equipment.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance activities by issuing work permits, taking readings, and following established procedures.
  • Initiate work requests and assist in developing and updating operating procedures.
  • Work with engineering and support teams to gather operational data and optimize production.
  • Monitor and adjust chemical injection systems based on production requirements.
  • Track production and compression test data and perform fluid level measurements using an echo meter.
  • Maintain compliance with all operational, environmental, and safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 0–3 years of oil and gas or related industrial experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of oil and gas production equipment and field operations.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to learn production processes, equipment, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to perform routine field tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, agility and fit for duty. 
  • Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, and stopping are required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
