Overview

The Instrument Controls Coordinator serves as a subject matter expert for instrumentation, control systems, analyzers, and related equipment. This role provides advanced technical guidance to maintenance and operations teams, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of I&C assets. The position emphasizes strong maintenance expertise, safety leadership, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a subject matter expert for instrumentation, control systems, analyzers, and associated I&C equipment.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting support for complex maintenance and operational issues.
  • Support operating teams during peak loads or abnormal conditions, including on-site operational assistance as needed.
  • Participate in constructability reviews, maintenance design reviews, and provide technical input for routine maintenance, turnarounds, and new projects.
  • Implement and support maintenance design philosophies and project specifications related to I&C systems.
  • Support maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution activities to improve equipment reliability and performance.
  • Contribute to cost management initiatives and productivity improvement plans.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental (SSHE) requirements.
  • Provide technical support for risk assessments, incident investigations, and conceptual and pre-FEED studies.
  • Promote best practices in safety and regulatory compliance across maintenance and operations teams.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a closely related I&C, maintenance, or technical specialist role.
  • Discipline-appropriate certification(s) or equivalent professional experience in instrumentation, controls, analyzers, DCS, or PLC systems.
  • Strong hands-on maintenance expertise with instrumentation, control systems, analyzers, and automation equipment.
  • Knowledge of maintenance management processes, including planning, scheduling, and reliability improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communicator, able to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to work effectively across functions and influence without formal authority.
  • Adaptable to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
  • Demonstrates collaboration, initiative, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background check, drug test, and MVR check.
