Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Surface Analyst to join our Land Administration Surface Team, supporting the administration and control of surface-related lease and contract records. With guidance, this role assists in managing surface interests associated with producing and non-producing properties, ensuring accurate data maintenance, contractual compliance, and effective coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, interpret, input, and maintain surface-related lease and contract data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Assist in maintaining monthly calendars for payments, expirations, and contractual obligations related to surface assets.
  • Support surface-related Land Operations teams as requested.
  • Learn to identify, track, and manage contractual obligations tied to surface acquisitions, trades, and divestitures.
  • Assist with departmental special projects, including acquisitions and divestitures and large-scale data quality initiatives related to surface assets.
  • Learn to interpret surface contracts and leases, identifying and helping resolve technical, data-related, and procedural issues.
  • Assist with tracking partner offerings and performing associated recordkeeping activities.
  • Support preparation of agreement exhibits, lease reports, and acreage summaries for internal stakeholders and management.
  • Serve as a point of contact, when appropriate, for landowners and other stakeholders regarding property status and land administration processes.
  • Maintain professional affiliations with local and national land associations through participation in meetings and networking events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Land Administration, Land Operations, Accounting, and Legal.
  • Complete assigned tasks efficiently, demonstrating accuracy, attention to detail, and accountability.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and responsibilities, meeting deadlines and performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and implement strategies that enhance data integrity, contract management, and acreage prioritization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data analysis and reporting, providing insights to management and stakeholders.
  • Participate in surface asset planning initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Support prioritization of surface asset projects, contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in land administration, surface management, or a related discipline.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; willingness to learn additional systems and applications.
  • Experience with Quorum Land System and/or SAP preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of basic land principles, land terminology, and surface contracts and leases.
  • Ability to analyze land data and accurately input information into land data management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential and proprietary company information responsibly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing needs and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership of deliverables, actions, and behaviors.
  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, agility and fit for duty.
