Overview

The Marine Supervisor is a member of the Operations Leadership Team and reports to the Offshore Installation Manager. The primary purpose of this role is to provide marine-based operational and maintenance support to the team, support the implementation of the Operational Readiness Plan, and lead the offshore marine team during the operational phase.

This position requires the integration of a broad range of competencies, including marine stability, HSEC, and regulatory knowledge, to effectively lead offshore marine operations. The Marine Supervisor is also expected to have the capability to train, mentor, and develop marine personnel, ensuring competency, compliance, and continuity of marine operations. The Marine Supervisor serves as the facility’s Bahamian-licensed Barge Supervisor.

Responsibilities

People

  • Provide leadership and foster effective teamwork to motivate staff and establish a work environment that maximizes opportunities for staff to perform well, achieve job satisfaction and contribute effectively.
  • Ensure all direct reports have annual objectives set with clear & measurable targets with annual and semi-annual performance reviews conducted for each employee discussing performance against agreed objectives.
  • Ensure all direct reports follow Woodside training & competency management program and Regulatory required training (e.g., Subpart O).
  • Accountable for development planning of all personnel, including technical, leadership, and business skills. An active people succession plan is critical to ensuring proper development is achieved.

HSEC & Regulatory

  • Foster a safety-first culture by setting HSEC expectations, demonstrating expected HSEC behaviors, participation in site safety observation programs, conducting & participating in site audits, and providing recognition & reinforcement of positive behaviors.
  • Ensure all marine management activities are following IMO and Mexican legislation, class society, the facility Safety Case, ISO 14001, and company HSEC policies & practices.
  • Promote a risk-based approach to marine operations, teaming with technical specialists and HSEC staff to manage risk while maintaining the priority order of HSEC then production, cost & growth.
  • Single point accountability for achieving SEMAR Certificate of Inspection.

Deliver the Base

  • Ensure marine activities on the facilities maximize and optimize production without compromising compliance with Woodside HSEC Management Standards and all government regulations.
  • Assist in the development of the annual operating budget and manage controllable expenditures at the facility within the set budget.
  • Ensure all marine-based operational procedures are up to date, implemented & personnel trained in their use.
  • Work with the maintenance team to coordinate daily activities so that maintenance impacts on production are minimized.
  • Support facility optimization.

Project Activities

  • Assist in the preparation and execution of the Trion Operational Readiness Plan with focus on marine operations procedure development and integrated start-up plans and procedures. Ensure marine operations team is trained and competent in start-up and operating procedures.
  • Understand and support the Maintenance Management Philosophy, including the role of GSAP in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support the operational planning and execution of onshore pre-commissioning as well as offshore hook-up and commissioning activities to ensure safe and timely startup of production operations, serving as operational focal point for commissioning of marine systems.
  • Support the Trion development project through procedure development, personnel training, participation in safety & operability reviews, site construction, commissioning & integration, and start-up.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.  College or Technical School Degree preferred.
  • 10 or more years’ experience in marine operations on offshore oil and gas facilities. Deepwater experience preferred. 
  • Must hold Flag State Issued Merchant Mariner Document with the Rating of FOI Active Ballast Barge Supervisor.
  • Experience in all aspects of marine systems and control systems preferred.
  • Strong health, safety, environmental and regulatory compliance record with knowledge of SEMAR regulations preferred.
  • Experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of deepwater systems preferred.
  • Experience in simultaneous operations involving production, drilling, maintenance, marine and construction activities preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) preferred.
  • Demonstrated capability in general computing required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with strong personal, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills is required.
