Overview

The Night Lease Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring oil and gas wells and associated equipment to meet daily production targets. This role focuses on maintaining reliable operations, identifying and troubleshooting issues, and supporting maintenance and wellwork activities while adhering to all safety, environmental, and operational standards. This is a night shift position on a 7 days on / 7 days off rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate wells and production equipment in accordance with established procedures and safety guidelines
  • Monitor well performance, production rates, pressures, and equipment conditions to ensure optimal operations
  • Identify and troubleshoot well and equipment issues, implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Perform routine inspections of wellheads, surface equipment, and facilities to ensure proper working condition
  • Assist with and support wellwork and intervention operations as required
  • Perform basic maintenance activities and coordinate with maintenance teams for corrective, preventive, and predictive work
  • Maintain accurate and detailed logs of operational activities, issues, and shift updates
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings, ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental standards
  • Report incidents, abnormal conditions, and equipment failures in a timely manner
  • Collect product samples and perform basic field testing as required
  • Ensure proper shift handover communication to maintain continuity of operations
  • Support emergency response activities and follow all emergency preparedness procedures
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding operations and ongoing activities

Qualifications

  • 2+ yrs. of Lease Operator experience required.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Strong knowledge of well operations, production equipment, and pipeline systems
  • Experience monitoring production rates and diagnosing well performance issues
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine maintenance tasks
  • Strong understanding of safety, health, and environmental practices in oil and gas operations
  • Familiarity with emergency response procedures and operational protocols
  • Ability to work a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule, including night shifts (6 pm – 6 am)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
