Overview

The I&E Technician II will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems to ensure safe and reliable operation of oil and gas facilities. This role involves working with control systems, field instrumentation, and electrical equipment to support production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in troubleshooting, installation fundamentals, and wiring configuration of motor starters and control systems.
  • Able to diagnose motor control faults and perform corrective actions efficiently.
  • Familiar with VFD installation fundamentals, configuration setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret VFD parameters and resolve operational issues.
  • Experience working with, maintaining, and repairing equipment across a range of low‑ to high‑voltage systems (12V up to 25kV).
  • Knowledgeable in safe work practices for medium‑voltage environments.
  • Trained in NFPA 70E Arc Flash procedures, including proper PPE selection and safe work practices.
  • Ability to don and work in arc‑rated PPE and perform tasks safely around energized equipment.
  • Understanding of transformer fundamentals and basic troubleshooting.
  • Experience with transformers ranging from 480V to 25kV.
  • Solid knowledge of induction motors, motor wiring configurations, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with synchronous motors is preferred.
  • Knowledge of gas‑fired turbine operation, controls, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with turbine‑driven generators, including control systems, monitoring, and protection schemes
  • Proficient in using standard test equipment: digital multimeters, volt‑ohm meters, amp clamps, meggers, etc.
  • Familiar with PLC fundamentals and control logic concepts.
  • Capable of connecting to PLCs via laptop and using PLC software to troubleshoot logic‑based issues.
  • Able to read and interpret P&IDs and related schematics.

Qualifications

  • 3+ yrs of experience in instrumentation and electrical maintenance within the oil and gas industry.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Technical certification or associate degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with using a hot stick is preferred.
  • Valid US Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record. 
  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, agility and fit for duty.
  • Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
  • Self‑motivated, able to work independently or within a team environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance with established electrical and plant procedures.
  • Advanced computer skills is preferred. (Excell, Word, etc..)
  • Ability to adapt to and utilize Work management systems. (Systems utilized to plan and schedule daily activities as well as order material for jobs).
