Overview

The Lease Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of oil and gas production facilities. This role supports daily field operations, ensures equipment integrity, and partners with operations, contractors, and engineering teams to maintain optimal production performance while adhering to all safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Actively support Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) processes by performing daily activities in compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and safe operating practices.

  • Maintain a safe working environment and be prepared to respond to environmental or safety events as required.

  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain oil and gas production equipment.

  • Perform duties associated with oil and gas producing operations, including but not limited to:

    • Plunger lift

    • Rod pumping units

    • Flowing wells

    • Compressors (preferred)

  • Optimize artificial lift systems to support production efficiency.

  • Test wells and acquire fluid level data.

  • Perform accurate recordkeeping and data entry.

  • Monitor computer-based control systems.

  • Test and verify safety devices.

  • Operate and monitor SCADA systems.

  • Partner with other employees and contractors to ensure equipment operates at peak efficiency.

  • Utilize SAP to create work orders for inventory tracking, maintenance planning, and work prioritization.

  • Ensure all work performed meets operational excellence standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Lease Operator experience required.
  • Must live within a 45-mile radius of Midland, TX. Housing is NOT offered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of artificial lift systems including gas lift, ESPs, and rod pumps.
  • Familiarity with standard production facilities and equipment, including:
    • Central Tank Batteries (CTBs)

    • Saltwater Disposal (SWD) facilities

    • Satellites

    • Compressor Stations (CSs)

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with limited supervision.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with coworkers, contractors, and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test (hair follicle), MVR, agility and fit for duty.
  • Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending stopping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms. 
  • Understanding of environmental and safe work practices.
