Overview

The Instrument and Electrical Technician III is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems that support oil and gas production operations. This role ensures equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and safe work execution while supporting maintenance programs and operational priorities. The technician will also provide technical guidance to peers and may act as a stand-in for the Instrument and Electrical Lead as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, test, and repair electrical and instrumentation systems used in production operations
  • Evaluate electrical systems and instruments to develop repair and maintenance plans
  • Document issues, corrective actions, and completed work in accordance with company standards
  • Plan, update, and oversee assigned activities while ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental requirements
  • Support collaboration between operations, engineering, and project teams
  • Review and provide input on control specifications and work practices
  • Maintain responsibility and accountability for electrical and control systems per the Work Management Manual
  • Apply and follow work permits through the Permit to Work System (PTWS)
  • Ensure quality and timely completion of work scheduled through the Maintenance Program
  • Provide technical support to other technicians for maintenance and troubleshooting activities
  • Support work prioritization efforts to maximize operational effectiveness
  • Generate and manage Management of Change (MOC) requests related to electrical and control equipment and installations, including follow-up inspections per OIMS Element 3
  • Construct, monitor, and inspect new installations, recommending upgrades when necessary
  • Develop and maintain open communication regarding electrical and control issues, safe work practices, training, and materials
  • Attend and lead technical meetings as needed to communicate updates on specifications, codes, procedures, and technology
  • Act as a stand-in for the Instrument and Electrical Lead position when required

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred; technical school coursework strongly valued
  • Experience maintaining electrical systems and instrumentation & controls in oil and gas processing plants or offshore production facilities.
  • Familiarity with oil and gas regulatory requirements
  • Large horsepower compression automation experience highly preferred.
  • Valve repair and troubleshooting experience highly preferred.
  • Man Lift Certifications required. 
  • Working knowledge of OIMS systems, manuals, and procedures
  • Ability to meet company safety, administrative, and technical training requirements
  • Understanding of Operations Integrity Critical Competencies
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test (UA), MVR Check, agility, and Fit for Duty.
