Overview

The Project Engineer support the planning, design, and execution of upstream oil & gas capital projects, with a strong emphasis on Projects and Facilities Unconventional (UNCON) operations. This role is responsible for coordinating engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards, supporting contractor interfaces, and managing phase transitions within the project lifecycle. The Project Engineer work under established guidelines, provides technical support to the project team, and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and within cost and schedule constraints. This position reports into the Project Manager and may provide back-up support when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts engineering design evaluations and supports completion of assigned project scopes.
  • Ensures engineering and construction activities align with project objectives, specifications, and standards.
  • Coordinates project stage transitions and ensures smooth handoffs between phases.
  • Serves as primary interface between the Project Team and Contractors.
  • Participates in Invitation to Tender (ITT) development, bid evaluation, and contractor selection.
  • Supports development and coordination of the Functional Interaction Plan.
  • Supports the sourcing of long-lead equipment and collaborates with FEED contractors.
  • Coordinates and supports the development of EMCAPS Gate 3 deliverables.
  • Manages project issue resolution processes and assists with change request evaluations and authorizations.
  • Monitors project progress against cost, schedule, and scope goals.
  • Reviews production, malfunction, and maintenance reports to identify and resolve engineering issues.
  • Ensures compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal governance.
  • Provides data accuracy, security, and documentation management oversight.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required).
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering, project engineering, or related functions.
  • Experience in Projects and Facilities Unconventional (UNCON) environments.
  • Experience supporting major capital projects within upstream oil & gas required.
  • Background in engineering design, construction support, and project management.
  • Broad knowledge of design standards, specifications, and engineering work processes.
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, and fit for duty/agility test.
