Overview

The Plant/ Process Operator supports safe, reliable, and efficient operations at the Tioga Gas Plant, working closely with the Control Room Technician (CRT) and Operations Technicians. This role plays a key part in maintaining stable plant operations, conducting equipment surveillance, and ensuring that safety and environmental requirements are rigorously upheld. The Operator II will help coordinate field activities, support maintenance efforts, endorse work permits, and ensure smooth communication and workflow across operations. This position requires strong operational knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a team-focused, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key liaison between field operations, CRT, and Operations Supervisors to ensure clear understanding of safety requirements, operational goals, and maintenance priorities.
  • Support oversight of assigned area activities to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
  • Perform routine plant surveillance, monitor equipment conditions, and respond to operational changes or issues.
  • Work in a crew environment to support overall plant operations, including sulfur recovery processes.
  • Collaborate with contractor personnel to ensure safe job execution and hazard mitigation.
  • Participate directly in Operations Emergency Response activities for the assigned area.
  • Support Systems Completion teams during commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Review work packages for planned maintenance and ensure isolations and equipment preparation are safely executed.
  • Endorse Work Permits as Area Operator (AO) and act as Isolating Authority (IA) when required.
  • Promote teamwork between Operations and Maintenance to drive efficiency and reliability.
  • Provide regular updates to the CRT and maintain clear communication across plant areas.
  • Maintain accurate daily logs and shift handover notes.
  • Perform physical tasks as needed (lifting, climbing ladders/tanks, moving drums, etc.).
  • Conduct minor equipment maintenance where appropriate.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout assigned work areas.
  • Make process adjustments to ensure product quality remains within acceptable specifications.

Qualifications

  • Prior industry experience in operations, gas plant, refining, or similar production environment required.
  • Strong working knowledge of production processes and operational best practices.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, PFDs, UFDs, and shutdown logic diagrams.
  • Understanding ofControls Integrity Management System (CIMS) and Production Operations Best Practices.
  • Physically able to perform field duties as required.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, and agility and fit for duty.
