Overview

The CAD Designer/Drafter is responsible for developing, revising, and maintaining accurate 2D drawings and design documentation in support of engineering and project teams. This role focuses on creating detailed PFDs, P&IDs, one-line diagrams, general layouts, and other technical drawings using AutoCAD and related software. The CAD Designer/Drafter works closely with engineers and other team members to ensure that all drawings meet project specifications, quality standards, and company requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain 2D CAD drawings including PFDs, P&IDs, one-lines, layouts, plans, sections, and detailed drawings using AutoCAD (required), MicroStation, or SmartSketch.

  • Translate complex or rough design concepts into clear, accurate, and complete working drawings.

  • Revise and update drawings based on feedback or markups from engineers and design leads.

  • Produce drawing deliverables such as isometrics, schedules, and data sheets to support project documentation.

  • Ensure drawing accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project and company standards.

  • Support document control activities including database updates, file management, and drawing progress tracking.

  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with engineers, designers, and other disciplines on project deliverables.

  • Provide technical drafting assistance for internal engineering initiatives as requested.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or related technical field required.

  • Previous experience in a CAD design or drafting role within engineering, oil & gas, or construction industries.

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with MicroStation or SmartSketch preferred.

  • Working knowledge of engineering documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, and one-line diagrams.

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines and changing priorities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and team collaboration.

  • Experience with Muddy Boots or similar project/document management tools is a plus.

  • Must meet conditonal job offer requirements including background check, drug test, MVR, and fit for duty/agility test.
