Overview

The Electrical Site Inspector functions as a key member of the Project Inspection Quality Assurance Team. Inspectors ensure that all engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor activities meet project specifications, quality standards, and statutory requirements. Depending on level, Site Inspectors perform surveillance, monitor quality programs, resolve non-conformance issues, and provide expertise to support project success.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the project’s electrical inspection plan within assigned sub-projects.

  • Perform inspections on:

    • Overhead distribution line construction (poles, cross-arms, hardware, conductors).

    • Transmission line activities (foundations, structures, stringing, grounding).

    • Substation equipment installation (transformers, breakers, switchgear, bus work).

  • Implement the project’s Site Inspection Surveillance Plan.
  • Assist in assessing contractor quality programs, ITPs, and procedures.
  • Perform inspections on civil, structural, and infrastructure works (earthworks, concrete, tank foundations, steel erection, welding, etc.).
  • Verify contractor compliance with permits and corrective actions (DR/NCR/CAR).
  • Witness testing and hold points per contractor ITPs.
  • Review inspection documents and final packages for accuracy.
  • Participate in punch-list creation, verification, and audits.
  • Provide regular updates to the Site Quality Assurance Lead (SQAL).
  • Perform discipline-specific quality inspection activities per ITP.
  • Conduct surveillance on production processes.
  • Review and evaluate contractor and supplier quality documents.
  • Keep QA leadership updated on quality issues.
  • Support the Mechanical Completion process.
  • Provide advanced expertise to resolve quality problems.
  • Attend and contribute to kick-off, pre-inspection, and alignment meetings.
  • Evaluate readiness to work, including review of key documents.
  • Monitor and assess contractor and supplier QA/QC programs and procedures.
  • Perform inspections, witness acceptance tests, and endorse quality records.
  • Identify early quality risks and steward non-conformance resolution.
  • Perform final quality checks before acceptance of equipment/materials.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience executing QA/QC inspections on electrical distribution, transmission, or substation projects.
  • Ability to travel domestically/overseas as needed.
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug, MVR, agility and fit for duty.
  • Understanding of importance of environmental and safe work practices.
