The Facilities Engineer provides technical oversight and guidance on facility design, construction, and operations. This role ensures that engineering work, whether performed internally or by contractors, aligns with company specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The engineer will also drive safety, efficiency, and performance improvements while serving as a mentor to junior colleagues.
Evaluate and comment on discipline engineering work performed by internal staff and contractors.
Ensure compliance with company specifications, standards, and safety/regulatory requirements.
Facilitate the execution of engineering and design processes that align with team goals and objectives.
Participate in risk assessments, HAZOPs, hazard hunts, and critical operating parameter reviews.
Lead incident investigations related to downtime or process safety.
Identify opportunities for improvement and help develop scopes of work for new projects.
Conduct risk assessments for new facility projects and ensure closure of mitigating actions.
Lead facility performance testing and plant-based trials.
Develop and implement facility operating guidelines.
Provide coaching and mentoring to junior engineers and colleagues.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) preferred.
Strong knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications, codes, and safety requirements.
Demonstrated ability to manage tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and shifting priorities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and business contexts.
Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills with a proven ability to work effectively in team environments.
