Overview

We are seeking a Cap String Operator with prior drilling rig experience to support gas lift operations at West Ranch. This role involves operating a motor similar to a wireline unit, spooling out ½” tubing to operate gas lift valves in the well bore.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and maintain the cap string motor and associated equipment.

  • Spool out and retrieve ½” tubing in and out of the wellbore to set or pull gas lift valves.

  • Assist with troubleshooting gas lift valve performance and report wellbore/valve issues to supervisors.

  • Conduct pre-job inspections and routine maintenance on equipment to ensure readiness and reliability.

  • Work with drilling and production teams to coordinate cap string runs during well interventions.

  • Follow standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and client requirements at all times.

  • Keep accurate job logs and records of tubing depth, valve settings, and equipment usage.

  • Support general wellsite operations, including rig-up/rig-down of equipment, housekeeping, and safety meetings.

  • Be available for scheduled work and occasional weekend call-outs as required by field operations.

Qualifications

  • Prior drilling rig or well servicing experience required.

  • Experience with gas lift or wireline-style equipment preferred.

  • Strong safety focus and ability to work independently.

  • High School Diploma or GEd equivalent required.
  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, agility and fit for duty.
  • Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending stopping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms. 
  • Understanding of environmental and safe work practices.
