Overview

The Measurement Technician will oversee and support measurement systems across oil and gas operations. This role involves hands-on work with calibration, tank gauging, meter proving, and hydrocarbon sampling, as well as reviewing and verifying engineering diagrams to ensure accuracy with field operations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in measurement equipment, an understanding of production processes, and the ability to navigate and redline complex facility diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and calibrate measurement equipment, transmitters, and flow devices.
  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot RTUs, Fisher ROC/ABB systems, and WinCCU software.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot radio communication equipment to ensure reliable uplink.
  • Conduct and interpret orifice, ultrasonic, turbine, and Coriolis measurement in accordance with AGA standards.
  • Perform hydrocarbon sampling, analyze gas quality (moisture, gravity, CO₂), and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Verify field equipment and piping against engineering diagrams (SFDs, LFDs, P&IDs, and plot plans).
  • Identify and communicate inconsistencies between drawings and field conditions; provide redlines/corrections for drafting updates.
  • Ensure compliance with BLM regulations and safety/environmental standards.
  • Operate effectively in field conditions, including hot and cold environments.
  • Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and operations staff to maintain accuracy in schematics and measurement data.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience in oil and gas measurement, instrumentation, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience accepted.
  • Proficiency in measurement system calibration, tank gauging, meter proving, and statistical process control.
  • Strong knowledge of Fisher ROC/ABB gas measurement systems, WinCCU software, and communication equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret SFDs, LFDs, P&IDs, and plot plans.
  • Experience providing field redlines and working with schematic drawing software (Muddy Boots Online preferred).
  • General understanding of oil and gas production equipment and process flow.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely in outdoor field environments and adapt to varying weather conditions.
  • Commitment to safety culture and regulatory compliance.
  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, agility and fit for duty.
