Overview

The Compressor Station Operator is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of natural gas compression equipment. This role ensures system reliability and optimal run time by monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining compressor station systems in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor natural gas compressors, dehydration units, and related equipment.
  • Adjust operating parameters to maintain safe and efficient pressure, flow, and system performance.
  • Conduct routine inspections and record equipment readings to identify irregularities.
  • Perform minor maintenance and assist in repairs on compressors, engines, and auxiliary systems.
  • Identify mechanical or process issues and escalate to maintenance personnel when necessary.
  • Support troubleshooting of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and industry standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings and ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate logs of operating data, inspections, maintenance activities, and safety checks.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and operational deviations promptly.
  • Utilize digital systems for accurate and timely data entry.

 

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience in gas compression, oil & gas operations, or industrial maintenance.
  • Familiarity with rotating equipment, instrumentation, and process controls.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training preferred.
  • OSHA 10/30, H2S Awareness, First Aid/CPR, and DOT Operator Qualification (OQ) preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Experience with HMI systems and control room operations a plus.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Rotating shift schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and remote locations. Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs.), climbing, bending, and extended standing. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, agility and fit for duty.
