Overview

Console Operators will execute terminal operations to meet daily requirements in total crude throughputs. The operator must balance high level surveillance of multiple crude oil systems, including NWT, CALKY, Water Washing, Dock Operations, and water handling with in-depth analysis of site-specific real-time data to maintain the product movements, inventory, product quality, chemical programs and integrity of the terminal and its systems. The Console Operators must take a proactive response approach to mitigating developing threats and ongoing events through evaluation of operational conditions of the monitored facilities and stay in close communication with local team, Control Center, customers, and support personnel. The Operator must demonstrate the ability to recognize, analyze and respond to abnormal conditions promptly to minimize potential negative impact to people, environment, and equipment. Console operator will assume the role of Incident commander when shift supervisor is not present.

Responsibilities

  • Assure safe, secure, reliable, and efficient operations of designated crude oil pipeline terminal facility at Empire Terminal location as scheduled.
  • Remotely monitor, control, and operate field equipment via HMI. Initiate start/stop of pumps and associated equipment and adjust, as necessary.
  • Monitor and provide real-time surveillance of the terminal security, process equipment and auxiliary system equipment, and maintain knowledge of the current operational conditions of all terminal equipment, instrumentation, and communications. Additionally, includes monitoring of:
    • Confirmation and execution of Daily Schedule with Control Center
    • Execution of NWT Blending Recipe
    • All Systems availability
    • Continuous Alarm Management Monitoring with a focus on critical alarms and response
    • Maintain Daily Nomination Rates as per Schedule
  • Maintain contact with control center, facility and field personnel and provide support and assistance as needed.
  • Maintain a daily shift record of noteworthy events utilizing eLogbook.
  • Recognize and respond to abnormal operating conditions of Empire terminal, as well as SS 208 and Fourchon 20” remote ORDs.
  • Emergency Response for any incident at the Empire Terminal Facility.
  • Recognize and respond to Emergency conditions of the Empire terminal, SS 208 and Fourchon 20” and facilities through notification procedures to mitigate the impact of the event.
  • Prepare and enter equipment malfunction information in Maintenance Management system (SAP-PM) as well as documenting system conditions in eLogbook and providing immediate notification to support personnel as appropriate.
  • Participate in, and initiate when appropriate, Incident Investigations and Near-Loss Investigations.
  • Develop and write O&M procedures relating to safe and reliable operations, communications, and training.
  • Maintain required training.
  • Assist in operator training and development.

Qualifications

  • This is a 7/7 rotation schedule with 12-hour days. Must live within a 40–50-mile radius to commute or have a camper to stay in. Per Diem is available.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three plus years’ experience as a facility console operator or similar control position (e.g., plant control board operator)
  • Five plus years Oil and Gas facility operations. 
  • Willingness to work in a 24/7 environment on a 12-hour with a rotating shift schedule.
  • Ability to think quickly and timely to make quick decisions in critical situations (i.e., ability to adjust process during abnormal conditions and mitigate the potential negative impact of events that are disruptive to business such as compliance and environmental related risks
  • Demonstrated professional work experience in a customer service environment, specifically with issue and conflict resolution.
  • Willingness and ability to pass "Fit for Duty" requirements, which includes a visual color perception test, associated with the assigned job task.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including ability to use various MS Office products.
  • Demonstrated mathematical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous events effectively and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated problem solving experience.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate Strong We Lead, Leadership Skills
  • Some domestic travel is required.
