Overview

The position of Deepwater Mechanic entails operating an offshore production facility according to customer specifications, conducting testing, calibration, maintenance, and inspections of equipment, and completing mandatory paperwork for both customers and governmental agencies. Additionally, responsibilities include troubleshooting and maintaining various equipment such as turbine compressors, generators, gas/diesel generators, and reciprocating equipment like pumps and compressors. 

Responsibilities

  • Operate an offshore production facility in accordance with customer requirements 
  • Test, calibrate, maintain and inspect equipment 
  • Perform mandatory paperwork required by customer and government agencies 
  • Maintain and troubleshoot, turbine compressors, generators, gas/diesel generators, compressors, reciprocating equipment (pumps, compressors, etc.)
  • Perform maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment including main engines, air compressors, fire pumps, potable water system, bilge manifold and system, sewage treatment system, cold start air compressors, lifeboats, and cranes.
  • Make regular rounds to monitor equipment and respond to issues.
  • Troubleshoot and solve mechanical problems; plan and implement projects effectively.
  • Identify all necessary parts, supplies, and equipment for maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate with the OIM to ensure timely ordering of required items.
  • Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct and communicate Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and risk assessments with all involved parties.
  • Supervise and direct work activities of contracting mechanical personnel.
  • Ensure all assisting employees and contractors understand their roles and job processes.
  • Commitment to safety and risk management practices

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Real ID driver's license or current U.S. passport
  • 5-8 years mechanic experience working on an offshore production platform preferred
  • Computer knowledge 
  • Turbine experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Familiar with Permit to Work (PTW) systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Organization skills to maintain platform 
  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills in a team environment
  • Creating policies and procedures for maintenance, testing, and inspections of offshore lifeboats
  • Needs to have technical mechanical skills and be able to create policies and procedures
  • Candidate will not be required to complete technical writing tasks 
  • Advanced Firefighting and Lifeboatman certification a plus
