Overview

The Shelf Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring wells, separators, compressors, and other equipment to ensure platform operations are running smoothly. The role involves completing compliance testing and platform paperwork and requires expertise in various control systems and subsea well operations. The Control Room Operator may be required to carry out tasks not specified herein but for which the Control Room Operator will have been suitably trained.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the safe and efficient operation and control of production, utility and safety equipment in line with customer's policies and all relevant regulations.
  • Monitor wells, separators, compressors, and other equipment to ensure platform equipment is in good running condition.
  • Complete monthly and annual BSEE/Coast Guard/ABS compliance testing of safety devices.
  • Complete platform paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Focal point for communications in the control room with personnel inside and outside the platform using radios, PA/ GA and telephones.
  • Perform, in line with customer's policies, production shift duties of operating, monitoring, reporting, and documenting all processes and equipment associated with the platform's oil and gas production, utility and safety systems.
  • Has in depth knowledge of Emergency Response Procedures.
  • Ensure all relevant production data is reported, documented accurately and pertinent records are maintained.
  • Report any issues impacting process safety, personnel safety, and environmental conditions.
  • Assist with electrical and mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting of platform process systems.
  • Assist with all regulatory required testing, inspections, and completion of all required paperwork.
  • Operate and control the platform form the HMI and be able to identify trends or signs of potential process upsets and take appropriate action.
  • Maintain and advise all of target rates for production, process and injection.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

  • Familiar with the needs and requirements of Control of Work systems.
  • Be familiar with and be able to read Process and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs) and Cause of Effects.
  • Be skilled in managing personnel and capable delegating work to deck operators.
  • Be familiar with SAP and the notifications and work order processes.
  • Be fully conversant with Emergency and Operating Procedures and all relevant regulations; be aware of and adhere to such regulations to develop a safe and efficient working environment.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in offshore oil and gas production.
  • Experience with control room operations.
  • Advanced Fire Fighting, Lifeboatman, Fast Rescue Craft and First Aid/ CPR certifications.
  • THUET and T-2 certifications.
