The Automation Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and programming automation systems that monitor and control oil and gas production operations. This role ensures optimal performance of field devices, communication systems, and process control systems to support safe and efficient operations. The technician works closely with operations, engineering, and SCADA teams to resolve automation issues and implement system improvements.
3+ years of experience in automation, instrumentation, or controls in oil and gas operations
Proficient in troubleshooting and configuring PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Siemens)
Experience with RTUs, HMIs, and SCADA systems (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, ClearSCADA)
Strong knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet, serial, radio, cellular)
Familiarity with field devices such as pressure/temperature transmitters, level controllers, and motor-operated valves
Ability to read and interpret electrical and P&ID drawings
Understanding of safety standards and hazardous area classifications
Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug, MVR, agility and fit for duty.
Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending stooping is required. Ability to work in outside environment during all seasons and weather conditions. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
Understanding of importance of environmental and safe work practices.
