Overview

The Field Communications Network Specialist is responsible for supporting the company's network and desktop environments, ensuring adherence to IT best practices, and working collaboratively with various internal teams and vendors. The role includes field communications support, help desk resolution, and network troubleshooting, with significant travel requirements. This position plays a key part in maintaining operational continuity in a dynamic technical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Document and ensure adherence to network and system architecture best practices.
  • Coordinate with various internal departments (local operations, corporate, construction, I&E, etc.) on projects, support needs, and standardization.
  • Participate in and ensure the timely completion of projects, leveraging internal staff and vendors as needed.
  • Assist in supporting client's iWAN network, security appliances, and field communications equipment.
  • Resolve user-submitted help desk tickets to support business functions.
  • Participate in the network outage rotation.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience supporting Microsoft desktop and server environments.
  • 3–5 years of experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco networking equipment.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry required.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience with point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless technology.
  • Familiarity with routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF.
  • Understanding of network security concepts and design.
  • Experience with industrial radio networks/equipment and SCADA hardware (RTU, PLC, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a remote team.
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% out of town.
  • Strong prioritization and time management under pressure.
  • Experience using internal work order/ticketing systems.
