Overview

The Maintenance Planner position is to support the maintenance department, managing maintenance data collection and information gathering to more effectively provide support to the Maintenance Department, to obtain equipment capability, availability and reliability. Maximizing operating profit through using planned maintenance where it is more effective. Maintenance Planner will need to ensure that these activities are done safely, meet regulatory deadlines and requirements, follow approved procedures, and are cost effective.  Helping to drive both safety and maintain cost control by helping to build a culture based on “management by exception”.  In order to succeed, the ideal candidate will need to have strong interpersonal skills to interface and influence other organizations both in the field and Houston offices. This will require excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication of decisions and setting the desired direction of the Maintenance program. The office location is in Jourdanton, TX. Company truck provided.

 

Responsibilities

• Responsible for initial screening of incoming work orders, identification of scope, and analysis of required level of planning
• Works directly with the Maintenance Scheduler and Operations Planner in order to accurately identify and schedule all work
• Estimates required hours on work order tasks, total work order duration, and skills required to perform the task
• Plans jobs with appropriate level of detail for the given skilled trades workforce
• Recommends and identifies procedures, equipment, and specialized tools required to perform work
• Upon completion of jobs, communicates with skilled trades regarding ideas and procedures that would make future jobs more efficient
• Coordinates priority setting with the management team – places specific emphasis on obtaining the input of operations personnel in the setting of priorities
• Keeps bills of materials current
• Is able to accurately measure the maintenance backlog
• Responsible for equipment and repair parts data entry and management
• Ensures all work orders and maintenance log items are closed when work is finished
• Participates in outage planning activities such as scope identification and control, scheduling, coordination, risk assessment, execution, and continuous improvement
• Perform work in compliance with plant safe work practices
• Establishing a continuous improvement culture that challenges “normal operations” on a daily basis
• Influence Maintenance, and other Functions, to adopt Company’s “management by exception” philosophy

• Supports the implementation of SAP throughout all aspects of operations
• Coordinates all major repair activity through the use of SAP
• Provides leadership in equipment repairs
• Ensures that critical spare list is evergreen, and that Procurement is maintaining the required inventory
• Maintain development and plan the execution of preventative maintenance schedules in SAP on applicable equipment
• Ensure that the short term and long-term schedules are being built around “management by exception”, and that weekly break in work is kept to critical items only
• Follows KPIs around work order generation, tracking of progress and final closeout to measure performance
• Contribute to Root Cause Analysis
• Ability to effectively interact with other Functions (HSE, Operations, Engineering, Accounting etc.)
• Supports special projects as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Foreman

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of maintenance experience in oil and gas operations or other suitable industry experience
  • Proficient with CMMS/SAP
  • Have an understanding of life cycle of maintenance and operations
  • High School Diploma required. Business or Technical Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Familiar with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Extensive maintenance and operations knowledge
  • Comfortable interacting with those outside the Maintenance organization to influence necessary change
  • Thorough knowledgeable in interpreting specifications, drawings, and instructions to assist in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, alignment, etc. of mechanical equipment
  • Extensive knowledge of rules and regulations of government regulatory institutions
  • Experience with Permit to Work, Mechanical Isolation Standards and Risk Assessments
  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, agility and fit for duty.
  • Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
  • Understanding of importance of environmental and safe work practices
