Overview

A Pump Mechanic demonstrates expertise in the maintenance and repair of various pumps and compressors used in oil and gas operations. This position involves performing troubleshooting, repairs, and replacements as necessary, ensuring the proper functioning of equipment in the field. 

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate expertise with engine, pump, and compressor mechanics, working with positive displacement pumps from Viking pump to SWD triplex injection pumps, including making field repairs such as packing replacement. 
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace centrifugal pumps (all brands), replace seals, and rebuild/replace as needed. 
  • Work with triplex, quintuplex, centrifugal, and reciprocating plunger pumps. 
  • Repair, rekit, or replace Kimray back pressure valves and separator oil and water dumps of various manufacturers. 
  • Troubleshoot pump and compressor valves and repair compressor packing leaks. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair centrifugal and positive displacement (SWD) pumps. 
  • Perform root cause failure analysis for mechanical problems. 
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting of automation and electrical equipment. 
  • Maintain working knowledge of emission systems, exhaust catalysts, and state emissions compliance. 
  • Apply lockout/tagout procedures competently. 
  • Utilize technical skills related to math and analytical thinking. 

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of oil & gas pump mechanic experience required, with a working knowledge of oil & gas production operations. 
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repairing triplex, quintuplex, centrifugal, and reciprocating plunger pumps. 
  • Experience with changing out packings and couplings. 
  • Strong initiative, self-starter attributes, and ability to work effectively in a team environment. 
  • Lockout/tagout experience/certification. 
  • Availability for rotating callouts. 
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; college or technical training strongly preferred. 
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with an excellent driving record. 
  • Must meet all conditional job offer requirements, including background, drug, hair follicle, MVR, agility, and fit for duty.
