Overview

The Natural Gas Mechanic is responsible for performing mechanical maintenance and repairs on natural gas engines and compressors on both offshore and land facilities. This role requires the ability to troubleshoot and service various equipment, ensuring optimal performance while maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a 24/7 call-out schedule, with flexibility for overtime and holidays as needed.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on natural gas engines and compressors, including Waukesha, Caterpillar, Cooper slow speed, turbines, Ariel, and Ajax packages.
  • Service and maintain Quincy, Ingersoll Rand, and White Superior compressors.
  • Troubleshoot and complete field repairs on compressors and natural gas engines as needed.
  • Possess a strong understanding of engine systems and engine controls.
  • Perform in-frame overhauls and complete rebuilds when required.
  • Conduct diesel engine or pump repairs, as applicable.
  • Read and interpret drawings and technical manuals.
  • Perform visual inspections of pumps and motors to detect abnormal conditions prior to start commissioning tests.
  • Handle decoupling and reinstallation of pumps, and correct piping alignment with equipment when necessary.
  • Assist in process system tests involving mechanical equipment and address soft foot issues in pumps.
  • Detect and resolve common pump failures and fix leaks detected during tests.
  • Assist with leak test line reinstatements and fill vessel processes, ensuring no leaks are present.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and perform general housekeeping tasks.
  • Provide support to account managers and customers via phone, email, or in person.
  • Complete preventative maintenance on department equipment.
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, participating in safety training and procedures such as first aid, CPR, fire drills, and emergency evacuation.
  • May be required to travel to worksites via marine or helicopter transport and reside at the worksite on a predetermined schedule.
  • Work effectively in a team environment as well as independently without direct supervision.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience offshore/in-land as a Natural Gas Engine and Compressor Mechanic.
  • Previous experience with Waukesha and CAT engines
  • Valid TWIC card.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Must live within 1 hour of the shop.
  • Ability to work overtime, holidays, and be available for call-outs as required.
